What do we mean by stress and personal power?

  • Stress--Unlike a common misconception, stress is not what happens to us in life. Stress is our body's reaction to a perceived challenge or threat. Sometimes the challenge/threat is real, but our perception is a crucial part of the reaction.  The important thing is to realize that stress is simply aroused energy. Too much for too long will wear out our body, but without it we can't get anything done.  The trick is to use that energy wisely.
  • Personal power simply means the ability to make things happen. It means taking charge of our life instead of being a helpless victim.

So Transforming Stress Into Personal Power, the purpose of this site, simply means using our stress energy effectively. It means generating the optimal amount of energy to meet the challenges in our life. It also means knowing what we really want and using that stress energy to achieve it.
