Needs Some Fine Tuning

It’s been a great week. I’m getting my energy back after that bug I had and I’ve been learning a lot and getting a lot done. I thought things were going great until I stepped on the scale. I lost two more pounds. I checked with my Wii Fit and I’ve slipped into being underweight. Clearly my system needs a bit of fine tuning.

I keep telling Andy that life is too complicated, it’s impossible to keep track of everything. It’s meant as a joke, but do you ever feel that way?

Thanks to Mike, Cathy, bikehikebabe and Rummuser for commenting on last week’s post.

I’m feeling that way all the time now. (Life too complicated.) There’s personal hygiene & house hygiene, etc. The list is endless. I jot it on paper but that doesn’t get it done.

Got too much stuff to do, too… and it looks like they’ve moved up the time they want me back for the next contract — to the middle of April!!

bikehikebabe,
I just leave housework off my possibility list. It simplifies things a lot. :D (I do love living in a small apartment. It’s my playpen.)

Mike,
Wow! The middle of April is just about here.

Yup. It’s like I lost two weeks of off time… but, then, I’ve been off since the end of August… ;)

Mike,
I imagine your working part time makes you appreciate your time off even more.

I sometimes feel that way. What I do is list all I have to do a night before and strictly do all of it the next day. I also try to allot a certain time on each task so I won’t be wasting too much time on one.

Hannah,
That sounds like a great strategy. I just make up a Possibility List and do whatever I feel like. I imagine you get a lot more done than I do. :D

Yes, too much information for me results in life getting to be unmanageable often till I remember rule number six. Presto, life becomes manageable again.

What is rule number six?

Rummuser,
I have a great knack for ignoring some things and focusing on the things I care about. It saves a lot of time.

bikehikebabe,
I’m assuming R is talking about the Traits of Stress-Hardy, Resilient People

They take responsibility for their mental programming, their emotions, and their actions. If they have ineffective ways of thinking and behaving, they evaluate them and make appropriate changes.

That’s one of my favorites.

Rummuser sent me this. It’s the end of a joke.

“Rule Number 6 is ‘Don’t take yourself so damn seriously.’” “Ah,” says his visitor, “that is a fine rule.” After a moment of pondering, he inquires, “And what, may I ask, are the other rules?”
“There aren’t any.”

bikehikebabe,
That’s my Rule Number 5:

They are reasonably optimistic and have a sense of humor. Even though they are dedicated to doing things well, they don’t take themselves too seriously.

Except now I don’t always bother to do things well. Jump in, try things, see what works and what doesn’t. It’s more adventuresome that way. :D
