Yes, we can. I have help coming later in the day for the main meal, and other household top work. I can get someone for 12 hour shifts but, why bother when I can do it? When push comes to shove, I may have to, but since I can do it now, I quite enjoy the experience.

Rummuser,
Here in the U. S. we can hire people to help...either full or part time. Is that an option for you?

That is a great insight Jean. The answer is yes. It is a double edged sword. He does not like it that 'his first born son' has to do all the work, and resents his own helplessness in not being able to do something about it! I hope that I never reach that stage.

gaelikaa,
I agree with bikehikebabe, I love reading your posts!

Rummuser,
At least it happens in the morning so the rest of the day has to be an improvement. You've mentioned your father tends to be status conscious. Does he think your care giving is beneath your dignity, that it should be woman's or servant's work? If so that would make it doubly hard for you.

Cathy,
Congratulations on passing those two papers. And good luck!

I try to find a way around personal stress...over the last Semester that has been sorely tried and I ended up in 'plodding mode'

I just went and looked at exam results and although only 2 are showing of the 3 papers I have passed them both - not great marks but still passes (C's get degrees) - both of them were kind of important : a core paper, a general education paper. . . .

the other paper was a spare so it fails to glide to a C or above then it's not terribly serious - time will tell.

Art Crime and the Popular Music industry are about to collide in about 10days time when the next Semester begins and I have less workload to manage - this is the result of the stressors of last Semester and the answer to is lower the number of problems :-)

My stress test is my father. Every morning, till he gets going and has had his breakfast, I am on pins. Once that test has passed, I de-stress by reading the papers and solving crossword puzzles. The rest of the day passes off quietly.

I live in a stressful situation at home. There is this constant pressure to mould oneself into the ways of a combined family. I love writing. That's the way I de-stress.

bikehikebabe,
Yes, we have plenty of examples of people and countries who have lived way beyond their means. That doesn't mean very many people learn from history. ;)

It sounds as if you're doing a great job staying positive.

Evan,
That can be a tough one. But if you share some of the problems of earning a living that can bring the two of you even closer.

Mike,
That sounds like a great problem to have. :)
