My wife is into autobiographies. I don't care much for them. Even Angela's Ashes, which she was fanatical over, didn't do much for me.

But Jeannette Walls' "The Glass Castle" was one that I'll remember for a long time.

Another really good one was "The Dream:A Memoir" by Harry Bernstein, and even his "The Invisible Wall".

My preference is for non-fiction. You can view from my blog the books I've read recently.

Cathy,
Sorry it took me so long to answer, your comment got hung up in my spam filter. I get tired just thinking of all you do. I'm impressed. Good for you! :)

I already have a lot of books here...that I haven't gotten around to reading!

In the last few days I have been moving bedrooms and a stack of books got uplifted at some point from beside the bed...I notice a couple I have bought, that somehow I don't think I have read past the first few pages!

Of course, they have just been shifted in their stacks...not direct to the new bedroom but rather to a holding/sorting out area. Time will tell if they get read during this next Semester which begins tomorrow :-)

I am not one of life's natural readers and look to my Elly for inspiration. I never thought of CD books.... it might well be the way to overcome my mental block on gaining knowledge and entertainment.

WAIT NOW!
I do have one double CD of 'words' - A Classic BBC Radio full cast drama of Dylan Thomas' poetic play for voices starring Richard Burton as the Narrator (voice like chocolate!). ISBN 0-563-38860-9

Also in BBC collection are:

A Room With a View - E M Forster ISBN 0563 553227
Cold Comfort Farm - Stella Gibbons ISBN 0563 226617
Women in Love - D H Lawrence ISBN 0563 389842
To the Lighthouse - Virginia Woolf ISBN 0563 553987
Titus Groan & Gormenghast - Mervyn Peake ISBN 0563 410302
Our Man in Havana - Graham Greene ISBN 0563 226390
