bikehikebabe and Diane,
The worst part about the fires is that some of them appear to have been set by humans. We used to have euctalyptus trees around our home when I was a kid. I still have a warm spot in my heart for them and love the smell. I hadn't realized they have so much oil until I read the reports.

rummuser,
I'm afraid I have to agree with you about some humans.

Jean, what you say about lending a helping hand when in low spirits is one sure way to lift up ones spirits. If you can do it to creatures, just the look of gratitude on their faces is enough to drive you to tears. Often, when you do it to humans, one gets indifference in return and that too teaches lessons!

It is awful all the devastation that has gone on in Australia.
So many have died in this blaze and towns have disappeared.

I've seen pictures of the Victorian Brush Fire- beautiful with the huge red fires. I got caught up in the beauty of it & forgot about the devastation of trees, lives & homes. The oil in the Eucalyptus trees simply explodes. Add the wind & it moves fast as a freight train.

I was glad to see the video of the thirsty koala bear & that he is being cared for (along with others rescued). I wondered if someone took him home. :)
