I listened to Randy Pausch's last lecture. (Not all YET) It downloads broken up at first, but by the time Randy comes on, it's steady. Click on it and do something else for 15 min. before you watch. You won't regret it!!!

I used to think of 5 things that were wrong in my life before I got out of bed in the morning. The idea was to "fix" them. Some of them were unfixable. (Here's where Monkey Trap knowledge comes in handy.) Now I think of 5 wonderful things in my life.

Galba
I've added Celebrating Life as another related post. It's about Dr. Randy Pausch, who exemplifies successful optimism.

Galba.
;) Thanks for pointing out I wasn't clear on Option 3. Successful optimists are positive thinkers...they expect their efforts will, on the whole, result in good results. I should have made that more clear. You and I are both successful optimists, I'm sure...we believe it takes right action as well as faith.

Hello Jean.

While I agree that 3 is the most powerful of the options, I think the relationship between 1 and 3 is a little complicated.

A person can be a positive thinker without practicing, or even being aware of the Law of Attraction.

Many positive thinkers use that thought process to triumph over adversity.

Many positive thinkers are optimists.

I think the key to your point lies in your quote, where you link optimism and determination together. As the Bible (James 2:16 NIV) says:

"faith by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead" Thanks, also, for the link :)
